rx - self limiting bed rest, NSAIDs

Adolescents, usually in long bones
presents with bone pain
Clubfoot
congenital deformity
foot deformity - inversion, adduction, plantarflexion
rx- serial Ponseti casts
DDH
acetabular dysplasia, dislocation of the hip
high risk: breech, Caesar for breech, fhx, larger baby
Barlow’s - dislocate
Otolani’s - relocate
rx - pavlik harness for 6-12w
6-18m - closed reduction (EUA)
>18m - open reduction
SUFE
10-16y, overweight
displacement through growth plate, able to weightbear
rx - surgery, internal fixation
Perthes’ disease
3-11y. Avascular necrosis of the fem head - cause unknown
rx - <1/2 fem head affected (NSAIDs, bed rest), >1/2 affected (surgery)
Transient Synovitis of the Hip
4-10y. inflammation of synovium, viral cause
Kocher criteria - temp >38.5, WCC >12, CRP >20, non weight bearing
3 or more - SA
Self limiting
