What is breath holding in paeds?

A

Very common in toddlers

After there is trauma to head, sometimes the child will hold their breath for approx 1 min.

Self resolving but child will cyanose

What is a reflex anoxic seizure?

A

Brief pauses in breathing that cause your child to pass out or faint temporarily, usually triggered by pain, fear or anxiety.

Sometimes mistaken for tantrums

A

What is a torn oral frenulum and why is it serious?

A

The piece of tissue joining the upper lip to the gum is the frenulum. A tear of the upper frenulum is very common.

Contains an artery and so will heavy bleed
