Macbeth is further made to be intriguing through the way he regains the characteristics of a brave warrior at the end of the play. In preparation for a battle with Macduff, Macbeth returns to being a fearless warrior and makes the decision that he would rather die in battle than be captured and made a mockery of.

This is made clear when he says, “Before my body I throw my warlike shield.”
analysis
The word choice of “warlike” means to be aggressive and violent. This tells the audience Macbeth is braced to be brutal and fierce during the battle, just as a brave warrior would be.
