P2 x 2 Flashcards
point
Additionally Macbeth is allowing himself to be manipulated by his wife, which is perplexing since he is given the status of a brave warrior.
evidence
An example of this is during Act 1 Scene 7 when she tells him “And live a coward in thine own esteem”
analysis
The word choice of “coward” means to be weak, this suggests Macbeth is timid and does not have courage. These are very contrasting traits to the ones he was described as at the beginning of the play. As well if Macbeth did possess the qualities of a noble warrior it is likely he would not be tolerant of Lady Macbeth constantly berating him.

This further makes Macbeth interesting, as he is perceived to be a very strong and brave warrior but he allows his wife to have the power in their marriage and also enables her to control him.
