When he learns that Malcolm is heir to the throne he says, “Stars, hide your fires. Let not light see my dark and deep desires.”
analysis
The word choice of “deep” means extensive and great, this tells us that Macbeth’s want to be king of Scotland is immense. As well the word choice of “black” has connotations of evil, this tells us that his ambition enables him to do menacing things so long as it gains him the title of king.

His ambition, which as previously mentioned is his fatal flaw, further makes Macbeth interesting as it leads him to do a series of sinister things to become the king of Scotland.
