What is the epidemiology of pasteurellosis?
- Housed lambs in the first 2-3 wks
- Pasture in early spring
- Following stressful events
What are the CS of pasteurellosis?
Anorexia, pyrexia, dull, oculo-nasal discharge, cough, sudden deaths
What is the tx of pasteurellosis
oxytetracycline w NSAID, nursing, isolation
How are oral fluids given in sheep
Stomach tube, nasogastric tube
What is the maintenance for ivft in sheep
2ml/kg/hr
What ivft should be given to a sheep >8% dehydrated?
IV isotonic or 4ml hypertonic saline
What is pulmonary adenomatosis and what is it caused by?
Contagious lung tumour of adult sheep
Jaagsiekte sheep retrovirus (JSRV)
What are the CS of pulmonary adenomatosis
Early: slight cough, tachyp., nasal discharge
Late: severe weight loss, moist ventral lung, tachyp, dysnoea
What is mycoplasma pneumonia (CAP)? what is it caused by?
A chronic soft cough caused by mycoplasma ovipneumoniae - tx not always necessary but oxytetracyclines may be used
