Salmonella, E.Coli, M haemolytica, L. monogenocytes
What are the CS and TX of bacterial meningitis?
Depressed, neck pain, hyperaesthesia, death
NSAID, ivft, penicillin
What to do with a lamb that is <37 degrees and <5 hours old
- Dry and warm to 37
- Colostrum 50ml/kg
- Warm to 39 and return to ewe
What to do with a lamb <37 degrees and >5 hours old
- Intraperitoneal 50% glucose first!! (10ml/kg)
- Dry and warm to 37 degrees
- Colostrum 50ml/kg
- Warm to 39 and return to dam
What is cerebrocortical necrosis caused by and what are the signs?
- Deficiency in thiaminase (B1)
- isolation, star gazing, head pressing, ataxia
What is the tx for cerebrocortical nectrosis?
10mg/kg vit b1 IV TID
What are the CS of listeriosis in sheep?
Profuse salivation, ear and lip drooping, T 37-42
What is the tx of listeriosis?
NSAID 3 days
AB 7-10 days
Oxytet 3mg/kg
How is hypocalcaemia treated in sheep
40ml 40% Ca borogluconate IV followed by 80ml warmed Ca SC
