1= confined to ovaries 2= spread outside ovaries but within pelvis 3= spread outside of pelvis but in peritoneum/abdomen 4= distant mets

What are some risk factors for ovarian cancer?
BRCA 1 and 2
Incessant ovulation
Increasing age

What is the presentation of ovarian cancer?
Classically presents late and non specifically
Pelvic mass +/- pressure symptoms
GI symptoms
Weight gain
What GI symptoms can present with ovarian cancer?
Indigestion
Early satiety, poor appetite
Altered bowel habit
Bloating
What investigations are done to diagnose ovarian cancer?
CA 125
Pelvic US
CT
What is the risk of malignancy index?
US features x menopausal status x CA125 level
What investigation shouldn’t be used in ovarian cancer?
Biopsy- can spread cells
What is the management of ovarian cancer?
Surgery and/or chemo
What is the prognosis of ovarian cancer?
Comparatively poor- presents later
What risk of malignancy index is low?
<25
What risk of malignancy index is high?
> 200
