Outcome measures Flashcards
tinetti’s test- requires and sections
requires- armless chair, stopwatch and 15 feet walkway
2 sections- 1 assess balance balance abilities in chair, and other in standing
tinetti’s test- procedure
patient sits in an armless chair and will be asked to stand up and turn 360° and sit back down, the patient will have to walk a few metre at a norma lspeed and then turn and walk back at a faster speed and sit back down
tinetti’s test- scoring
scale of 0-2, gait is scored over 12, and balance is scored over 16-totalling 28,
<18=high, 19-23=moderate, (>24low
Berg balance- equipment and scoring
equipment- yardstick, 2 standard chairs (one with arm rest and one without), footstool or step, stopwatch, 14ft walkway
scoring0 5 point scale- ranging from 0-4, 0= lowest level of function
Berg balance- interpretation and risk of falling
interpretation- 41-56= independent, 21-40= walking with assistance, 0-20=wheelchair bound
risk of falls= <45 greater risk of falls, <51= no history of falls, <42= predictive of falls, <40= 100% risk of falls
dynamic index- equipment and 8 assessments
assess falls, equipment- box, cones, stairs, 20’ walkway, takes 15 mins,
8 assessments= gait level surface, changes in gait speed, gait with horizontal head turns, gait with vertical turns, gat and pivot turn, step over obstacles, steps
dynamic index- scoring and interpretation
scoring- 4 point scale, (0 lowest), interpretation- <19/24= predictive of falls
functional gait assessments- requirements and grades
requirements- a marked 6m walkway with 12” width, grades= normal-3, mild impairments- 2, moderate impairments- 1, severe impairment-0
functional gait assessment- stages
gait with level surface, changes in gait speed, gait with horizontal head turns,, gait with vertical head turns, gait and pivot turn, step over obstacle, gair with narrow BOS, gait with eyes closed, ambulating backwards, steps
