why was the hopi language described as a timeless language
the language they used didn’t differentiate between the past future and the present. not having a language for certain words influenced the way they thought
how can the way something is described to us affect the way we remember it
a study showed participants a descriptive word and an image and asked them to redraw and they drew it different.
this suggest memory was influenced by the verbal label
why did the Zuni people have trouble distinguishing certain colours
they had 1 word for shades of yellow and orange so they had more difficulty recalling those colours compared to an English speaker due to lack of words
why did the bernimo people have trouble distinguishing certain colours
they had 5 names for colour, I name for: green blue purple, yellow orange brown dark colours white and light colours reds and pinks
they had difficulty distinguishing between colours in the same name group, supporting the Sapir whorf hypothesis
