unilateral throat pain, odynophagia, trismus, 3-7 days of preceding acute tonsillitis

bacteria between muscle and tonsil produce pus, medial displacement of tonsil and uvula, concavity of palate lost

aspiration and antibiotics

gross tonsillar enlargement, membranous exudate, lymphadenopathy, palatal petechial haemorrhages, hepatosplenomegaly
what is involved in the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis
atypical lymphocytes in peripheral blood, +ve monospot or Paul-Bunnell test, low CRP
what is involved in the management of glandular fever
symptomatic treatment, antibiotics, steroids
NOT ampicillin
