Other Stain use Flashcards
Common basic nuclear stain employed with eosin. For bacterial stain evaluation and grading of milk for diagnosis of Diptheria
Methylene Blue
Stains of Nissl Granules or chromophilic bodies
Toluodine
Stains amyloid in frozen sections and platelet 1 blood
Crystal violet
Used for counter staining of epithelial sections.
Aniline Blue
Used for staining blood to differentiate leukocytes
Giemsa stain
Used as contrast stain for staining Ascaris eggs and RBC and as a bacterial spore stain. Use both as a decolorizer and as a counter stain
Malachite Green
Stains chromatin green in the presence of an acid
Methyl Green
May be used for microanatomical color contrast of specimens and for demonstration of the circulatory system by injection
Prussian blue
Is an excellent stain for Elastic Fibers
Orcein
A contrast stain to acid fuchsn ,counter stain to crystal violet , tissue fixative and as decalcifying agent
Picric Acid
The oldest of all stains for microscopic study of starch granules , stains amyloid cellulose starch , carotene and glycogen
Iodine
More specific for connective tissue and epithelial cell
Alcian blue
Recommended for observing cell granules and vacuoles of phagocytic cell
Neutral Red
Best known indicator but used as stain for axis cylinder in embryos
Congo Red
Used for demonstrating mitochondria during intravital staining
Janus Green B
Used for demonstrating neuroglia in frozen sections
Victoria Blue
Used for demonstrating deposits of calcium salts and possible sites of phosphatase activities
Acridine Red 3B
Give green fluorescence for DNA and a red fluorscence for RNA
Acridine Orange
Fix and stain blood and glandular bodies
Rhodamine B
Used for staining Hgb
Benzidine
Aside from being fixative , it may be used to stain fat
Osmium Tetroxide
Used in spirochete , Reticulum and Other| Fiber Stain
Silver nitrate
