Health and safety at work act
all potential hazards must be identified and the likelihood of them causing harm must be determined, compliance with this is governed by HSE. this sets out standards that must be maintained for employees and states that training should be provided to health reduce injury.
reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences (RIDDOR)
accidents that occur in the work place fall under minor or major. the legislation states that any disease must be reported under RIDDOR include hep b and c as well as HIV which can both be contracted through poor infection control
Control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH)
refers to the use of chemicals and hazardous substances used in the workplace. practices use substances covered by this legislation. A risk assessment must be carried out on all of the chemicals that could cause harm or injury. The results of which should be stored in a COSHH file
