World Health Organization (WHO)
Part of the UN; improves health for all people; fights and prevents disease; helps countries meet health standards; ended smallpox; teaches people about the HIV virus
Peace Corps
Volunteer group run by u.s government, now has volunteers working in 77 countries; helps Americans and other world citizens understand each other; promote public health; teach people to use technology for business development
International Committee of the Red Cross (IRCR)
Based on Switzerland: unites efforts of Red Cross and Red Crescent groups around the world; provides aid victims of war or natural disasters; maintains a neutral position in wars
