osteology of leg Flashcards
what is attached in anterior intercondylar fossa
anterior horn of medial and lateral meniscus, anterior cruciate ligament
posterior intercondylar fossa attachment
posterior horn of lateral meniscus, posterior horn of medial meniscus, posterior cruciate ligament
what is the difference between the shaft vs distal end of tibia and how are the surfaces connected from shaft to distal end?
shaft has 3:
borders: anterior, medial lateral
surfaces: posterior, medial, lateral
Distal end has 5 surfaces: anterior, posterior, medial, lateral and inferior
anterior surface of distal tibia is continuous with lateral
posterior surface of distal tibia is continous with posterior surface of shaft superiorly, inferiorly it is continous with medial malleolus.
where does the anterior border of the tbial shaft extend from? what attaches at the anterior border
tibial tuberosity to the anterior border of medial malleolus
crural fascia attaches to ant border
what attaches to the the medial border of tibia
tibial collateral ligament, popliteus, soleus , FDL
what attaches to the medial superior surface of tibia?
sartorius, gracilis, semitendinosus= pes anscerinus
tibial collateral ligament
what is located on the lateral surface of the tibia?
ONE muscle attachment: TA- upper 2/3 distal end (med-lateral): tibialis anterior, extensor hallucis longus,EDL , peroneus tertius
what is the direction of the soleal line on Tibia? what is the second line on the posterior surface? what attaches medial and lateral to it
superolateral to inferomedial
vertical line
- medial: FDL
- lateral: TP
where does the nutrient branch branch from for the tibia? how is the nutrient forament directed?
posterior tibial artery
points distally away from growing end of tibia: proximal end
what attaches to the transverse groove of the tibia
capsule of ankle joint
what two tendons groove the posterior surface end of tibia? what is the groove called?
TP and FHL
groove: malleolar sulcus
what attaches at the fibular notch?
anterior and posterior tibiofibular ligamnet
what blood supplies the proximal, shaft vs distal end of tibia
proximal: genicular anastomsis
distal: malleolar anastomosis
Shaft: anterior tibial artery
which LONG bone has the largest nutrient foramina
tibia
what attaches to the styloid process of the fibula?
tendon of the biceps femoris and lateral collateral ligament of knee joint
