osmoregulation Flashcards
whats adh?
anti diuretic hormone. stimulates water reabsorption. if youre dehydrated you have lots of adh.
what happens when water levels drop below normal rate?
1) hypothalamus detects higher concentration of solutes in the blood.
2) hypothalamus creates feelings of thirst.
3) person drinks water. adh stimulates kidneys to re-absorb more water. why urine can be concentrated or diluted.
what happens when water level rises above normal range?
1) hypothalamus detects low solute concentration.
2) bitiutary releases less adh.
4) kidney re-absorb less water.
what is negatve feedback?
the bodys detection and response to changes in levels to bring levels back to normal. glucose, water, temp etc.
