cells Flashcards
plant : cell wall.
keeps the plant in firm shape
animal and plant: cell membrane
thin layer surronding the cytoplasm. restricts the passages of substances in and out of the cell.
a+p. nucleus
controls functions and charactersitics and cpntains genetic info
p: chloroplast
where photosynthesis takes place
p: vacuole
a membrane bound sac containing molecules like glucose. structure support
p+a: mitchondria
where respiration takes place.
plants
multicellular organisms, there cells contain chloroplasts and are able to carry out photosynthesis.they have cell walls containing cellulose. they store carbs as starch sucrose.
animals
multicellular, dont have chloroplast because dont carry out photosynthesis, have nervous coordination, often store carbs as glycogen
fungi
cant carry out photosnthesis, any of a group of unicellular, multicellular, or syncytial spore-producing organisms feeding on organic matter, including moulds, yeast, mushrooms, and toadstools.
bacteria
microscopic single celled organsims, have a cell wall, cell membrane, cytplasm and plasmids, no nucleus, contain a chrosmosome of dna. most feed of other living or dead organssims.
protoctists
microscopc single celled organsims, some have features like a plant wheres some like an animal
viruses
small particles, parasitic, can reproduce only in living cells, infect ever type of living organism. they have a wide variety of shapes and sizes, no cellular structure, have a protein coat and one type o nucleic.
