Q

what is Ultrafiltration?

A

things like water, ions, urea and sugar are squeezed from the blood in the gloomerulus into the bowmans capsule. forming a gloomerulus filtrate. large molecules like protein are too large to fit through the capillary walls.

Q

what is selective reabsortption?

A

useful substances like ions and sugar are reabsorbed into the blood at the proximal convuluated tubule. The amount of water in the blood is regulated ere to maintain it at a constant rate. this is osmoregulation.

as the rest of the filtrate travels through the tubules water and salts are reabsorped into the blood. taking place at the loop of henle. the remainder of waste, excess water, salts and urea is the urine. collecting ducts collect the urine. water can also be returned to the body if needed.

2) selective reabsorption - same thing back into the blood.
3) collecting ducts - urine formed and last chance to keep water.
