osmoregulation 1 & 2 Flashcards
1
Q
what is the definition of osmoregukation
A
control of water balance and dissolved solutes
2
Q
is a dormant tardigrad hypertonic or hypotonic to a puddle of rainwater

hypertonic. becuase rain water is relatively clean. thus the tardigrade would have water rush into it
3
Q
how do sharks
A
they store urea in the blood. but this is toxic so they have a molecule that neurtalizes it.
3
Q
what are some examples of osmoregulation from the lectures
A
fish - water passes through skin and gills (and excrete salt ions from gills and urine from kidneys
iguana - salt glands between eyes and nostril on each side of the head
