A

Borders:
1. Crainial border = femur
2. Dorsal border = greater trochanter
3. Caudal border = tuber ischii
Direct tip of needle caudally to avoid sciatic nerve

A
  1. Dorsal border = iliac crest
  2. caudal border = greater trochanter, femur
  3. cranial border = patellar ligament
    Direct the tip cranially to avoid femoral nerve, Inject into the proximal ½ of the muscle belly
    avoid: femoral nerve

  2. caudal border = iliac crests
  3. medial border= dorsal spinous processes

Insert the needle 2-3 cm off midline – directly into the
lumbar muscles, Direct the needle away from the spine

Too medial – hit the spinal column/cord
Too lateral – penetrate the peritoneal cavity

    Insert needle caudal to the humerus, Direct needle caudally, Inject into the proximal half of the muscle
    avoid: radial nerve, brachial plexus, thoracic wall
