Management of DKA
IV fluids - 0.9% saline
0.1 units/kg of insulin
Give K+ - initially may be hyperkalaemic but insulin causes K+ to shift into cells causing HYPOkalaemia
Hypocalcaemia management?

10ML 10% CALCIUM GLUCONATE over 10 minutes in saline or dextrose
Management of myxoedema coma (hypothyroid)

Hypoglycaemia in community - patient alert
Oral glucose (10-20mg) glucogel/tablet Fast acting carb
Hypoglycaemia - patient unable to swallow/unconscious
IM glucagon

Dose of adrenaline in cardiac arrest?
1mg IV
Dose of adrenaline in anaphylaxis ?
0.5mg IM
When is nephrostomy preferred?
Stone blocking ureter/kidney –> hydronephrosis but infection so don’t want to remove stone yet
CI to lithotripsy?
Shock wave degradation of renal stone

Bleeding disorder or anticoagulation
Stone >10mm
Optic disc cupping/lost?

Check other eye to confirm or exclude papilloedema
