Undisplaced: internal fixation or hemiarthroplasty if unfit
Displaced: arthroplasty (total hip replacement or hemiarthroplasty)
What is the management of an extracapsular hip fracture?
stable intertrochanteruc fracture: dynamic hip screw
if reverse oblique, transverse or subtrochanteric fractures: intramedullary device
What are the main clinical findings in frozen shoulder?
Active and passive movement limited
External rotation most affected
What are main features of De Quervain’s tenosynovitis?
pain on the radial side of the wrist
tenderness over the radial styloid process
abduction of the thumb against resistance is painful
NOTE: can do Finkelstein’s test
What is the management of De Quervain’s tenosynovitis?
Analgesia
Steroid injection
immobilisation with thumb splint
occasionally surgeons

Ciprofloxacin
