Orthographic Projection and Diagrams Flashcards
3 Orthographic views are derived from isometric drawings; what are these views called?
- Front (left side)
- Top (top)
- Side (right side)
There are two types of diagrams which value a piece of equipment’s location; these are?
Block diagrams (macro) Wiring diagrams (micro)
What is an isometric drawing?
A drawing consisting of vertical lines and lines 30 degrees from the horizontal.
What do hidden lines show?
Features that are invisible in a specific orthographic view.
When using a set of drawings, which orthographic view is represented by “plans,” and which are represented by “elevations”?
- Plans are top views
- Elevations are side and front views.
Where is an electrical legend typically found?
On the first page of the electrical drawings.
What is a geodetic elevation?
One which is based on sea level (0 m).
What is a construction elevation?

What is a useful purpose of grid lines?
