Architectural sections.
What is one of the first steps in an electrical installation?
Creation of a material take off list from the plans.
In an electrical installation, why would one increase the length of cable measured as needed from the plan?
To account for slack at the outlets.
When calculating length of cable required for an installation how should a total be tallied?
A sum of tight-to-the-walls horizontal and vertical distances measured from the plans.
* Remember to add slack for box connections and be sure to account for door frame routing. *
What are shop drawings?
Drawings supplied from the manufacturer of certain equipment used in the installation.
What kind of information do location drawings provide?
Location of the house, topographical grading levels, landscaping design, legal description and property lines, a construction or geodetic elevation of the property.
What information do piping and instrumentation drawings provide?
They visually describe the process of the system. We can extract important electrical information from these.
There are five groups of instrumentation devices, what are they?
Controllers (valves),
Indicators (gauges),
Recorders,
Sensors,
Transmitters.
What are the four types of instrumentation devices?
Flow devices,
Level devices,
Pressure devices,
Temperature devices.
On a P and I drawing what does it mean if there is a line between two devices with two slashes constantly along it’s length?
The device is pneumatically powered.
