- to have a slight increase in mobility
check the mobility

discomfort is normal

advise on analgesia - paracetamol and ibuprofen
can apply dental wax onto the wire to prevent rubbing on the mucosa
water is watering
common when appliance first fitted
- as its a change
reassure pt
will resolve as pt gets used to it
pt struggles to speech
will improve with time
the removable appliance feels loose
the claps may not be retentive
- adjust with Adams pliers
what if a removable clasp has fractured?

retainers don’t fit
- retainers are deformed
- teeth have relapsed due to not being worn often
management
- imps to make new retainers
- can’t do anything but new retainers to move teeth again
bonded retainers are loose
the composite bond has failed
management
- depends on extent of failure
- if 1/2 teeth debond = repeat with composite resin
- if the wires deformed too, make pt comfortable and refer to ortho
