Oral Cavity (Mouth)
The organ used for the beginning of digestion. Contains the tongue, and in dogs, 42 teeth.
Esophagus
The tub that connects the mouth to the stomach via the diaphragm
Stomach
A sac-like structure connected to the small intestine that stores large volumes of food
Duodenum
The section of the small intestine connected to the stomach
Jejunum
The middle section of the small intestine, also the longest
Ileum
The section of the small intestine that connects to the large intestine, also the smallest
Small intestine
Connects the stomach to the large intestine. further breaks down food.
Large intestine
Connects the small intestine to the anus. Absorbs water from feces and stores fecal matter
Rectum
The final portion of the intestines
Anus
The most caudal structure of the body. A place for solid waste to exit the body.
Liver
Sits between stomach and diaphragm. Secretes bile and filters toxins out of blood.
Pancreas
Near the liver. Produces enzymes to aid digestion and regulates insulin levels.
Gallbladder
A pear shaped structure lying between the lobes of the liver. Stores bile.
Kidneys
Bean shaped structures that filter liquid waste, such as urea and uric acid
Bladder
Stores liquid waste before excretion.
