what is organizational behavior?
is the systematic study of actions and attitudes that people exhibit within an organization
why do we want to study organizational behavior?
to apply knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness

what is the meaning of life?

teams with one smart person outperform teams where everyone is an average intelligence T/F

what is planning?
- you set goals and decide how to achieve them
what is organizing?
you arrange tasks, people, and other resources to accomplish work
what is leading?
: you motivate, direct, and otherwise influence people to work hard to achieve the organization’s goals
Controlling
you monitor performance, compare it with goals, and take corrective action as needed
what are the three main principal skills to be a good manager?
-technical= ability to perform a specific job (not important for lower-level man)
=job-specific knowledge needed to perform well in a specific field (like having a background in it)
-conceptual:- ability to think analytically, visualize organizations as a whole, and understand how parts work together
=Being able to understand the issue and see how to handle it (important for the top)
-Human- ability to interact well with others to get things done
Soft skills- interpersonal skills needed for success at all levels
