How to plan in turbulent environments?

A

Contingency plans: define the organisation responses to specific situations such as emergencies, setbacks or unexpected conditions e.g. Assessing how to respond to a worst case sudden market change or business disruption.
Scenario planning: plans that anticipate various situations that could impact the organisation
Crisis planning: plans for unexpected disasters. There are three essential stages: prevention, preparation and containment.

What are the levels of the planning process?

And describe each part of the process…

A

Mission statement -is a broadly stated definition (what and why) of the organisation’s basic scope and operations that distinguishes it from similar types of organisation
Strategic goals/plans- broad statements of where the organisation wants to be in the future pertaining to the organisation as a whole. 3 years or more
Tactical goals/plans- defines the outcomes that major divisions and departments must achieve. 1-2 years
Operational goals/plans- specific measurable results expected from departments, work groups and individuals. 0-1 years.
