What is combustion and it’s benefits
Burning used polymers to produce heat
Can be used to heat nearby buildings but released harmful substances
What is feedstock recycling and it’s benefits?
Collecting waste oils, monomers and oil from used polymers and recycle them into new polymers
Alternative to distilling more crude oil
What is PVC recycling??
Recycling PVC plastics instead of them being burnt- use a solvent to dissolve them and recover better quality PVC instead of burning and releasing Chlorine gas
What are biodegradable plastics??
Made from plant substances like glucose and starch, to allow them to be broken down more easily and decompose, eg waste bags that decompose with the food inside
Why do we need to reduce our dependency on oil??
It will reduce our spending on importing the oil, force us to innovate existing ideas for new fuels and pursue them to a point where they are effective
