clinical signs
A
- periorbital swelling
x severe orbital pain - fever
- conjunctivitis and chemosis
- loss of colour vision
- proptosis
- impiared ocular motility
- RAPD

symptoms
A
- sudden onset unilateral swelling of conjunctiva and lids
- pain on ocular movement
- blurred vision
- diplopia
- fever
- severe malaise

management by optom?
A
Emergency same day referral to ophthalmologist or A+E

management in HES?
A
CT scan of orbit and sinuses
blood tests including ESR
admission to hospital
intravenous systemic antibiotics + sateroid

how to differentiate between orbital and pre septal?
A

if someone comes in with pre septsl what do you do ?

refer as same day as could be orbital
