OCT pathology Flashcards
What is this?
CRAO
What is this?
Wet AMD - scan of a large PED with a large pocket of subretinal luid adjacent to the PED. The RPE is sharp and clear and easy to trace and follow from one side of the scan to the other.
What is this>
Wet AMD - with intraretinal luid/cysts. Note the breakdown of the RPE layer below the luid — it is impossible to trace a line following the RPE across the scan.
What is this?
Wet AMD - subretinal fluid above the RPE directly under the fovea and above a shallow PED. Also note the vitreous detachment from the retina
What is this?
Wet AMD - intraretinal luid (large and small intraretinal cysts) and a small pocket of subretinal luid, indicating that this is wet AMD rather than cystoid macular oedema (CMO).
what is this?
Wet AMD - some subretinal luid and subretinal hyperrelective material (SHRM) above the RPE, indicating wet AMD (note this scan is from an Optovue). SHRM tends to be not as relective as denser scars lying above the RPE and, with symptoms, is often a sign of wet AMD.
What Is this?
Retinal break - shown by window defect in the B scan
what can a window defect be mistaken for?
Geographic atrophy or cone dystrophy
What is this?
CSR
risk factors of CSR?
- male
- 20 and 40 years
- type A personality
- stress
What is this?

What is this?
Full thickness macula hole
What is this?
full thickness macular hole with intraretinal cysts and an operculum still attached to the vitreous.
treatment for full thickness macular hole?
inserting a gas bubble into the eye - px cannot fly for 6-8 weeks and can’t drive for 1 month post surgery
