What is the definition of minimal sedation?
- Independently maintain airway.
2. Respond normally to stimulation/verbal commands.
What is the MRD of Triazolam?
.5 mg
What is incremental dosing?
Administration of multiple doses of a drug, but not to exceed MRD.
What is supplemental dosing?
Addition of dose to initial dose. But must not exceed one-half of initial dose and should not be administered until dentist has determined half-life as passed. TOTAL dose must not exceed 1.5 X MRD that day.
WHat is moderate sedation?
Patients respond purposefully to verbal commands.
What is titration?
Administeration of incremental doses of a drug, but only applies to moderate sedation or greater.
What is deep sedation?
Cannot be easily aroused.
What is general anesthesia?
Not arousable.
What are the stages of general anesthesia?
- Analgesia
- Excitement
- Surgical
- Medullary depression
What are the planes of surgical anesthesia?
I= Rolling eyeballs II= Loss of corneal/laryngeal reflexes III= Pupil starts dilating and light reflex is lost IV= Intercostal paralysis, dilated pupil, abdominal respiration.
What is the enteral route of administration?
Any agent that is absorbed through the GI tract or oral mucosa.

Drug bypasses gastrointestinal tract. Intramuscular, Intravenous, submucosal…
What is transdermal route of administration?
Drug is administered by patch through the skin.
What is the half-life of Triazolam?
2-4 hrs.
