- Caries/Trauma -Periapical or Dentoalveolar abscess
- Gingival -Gum tissue inflammation
- Periodontitis - Periodontal abscess
- Pericoronitis -Partially erupted tooth
- Spreading infection of fascial space
What are the symptoms of Dentoalveolar Abscesses?
Acute or chronic
tender to pressure
Pyogenic, inflammation
What are the key factors to a Dentoalveolar Abscesses?
- Number/type of virulent bacteria
- Local & systemic immune response
- Anatomical damage
How do u treat Dentoalveolar Abscesses?
Local measures
- Drainage/root canal treatment/extraction
- Antimicrobials
- Antibiotics
What does a Dental pyogenic infection look like?

What is Sinusitis
Sinusitis is swelling of the sinuses, usually caused by an infection. It’s common and usually clears up on its own within 2 to 3 weeks
What treatment is given for Sinusitis?
Local measures in first instance.

- Ephedrine Nasal Drops, 0.5% , 10 ml
* 1 drop into each nostril up to three times daily when required*
* (not for children under 12)* - Amoxicillin Capsules
6-11 months 125mg
1-4 years 250mg
5+ years 500 mg
- 21 capsules* 1 capsule three times daily
3. Doxycycline Capsules
100 mg not for children less than 12
8 capsules Label: 2 capsules on the first day, followed by 1 capsule daily
