OPS115K, SEAD Flashcards
Select the correct definition for the categories of suppression of enemy air defense (SEAD)
AOR / Joint Operations Area (JOA) wide air defense system suppression
Conducted against specific enemy AD systems throughout the AOR / JOA to degrade or destroy their major capabilities/effectiveness. JFACC normally responsible.
Localized Suppression
Operations that are normally confined to geographic areas associated with specific targets or transit routes for a specific time.
Oppertune Suppression
Unplanned. Includes aircrew self defense and attack against surface targets of oppertunity. A continuos process involving immediate response to acquired targets of oppertunity.
Identify and define the two means of accomplishing SEAD
Destructive means
Seek the destruction of the target system or operating personnel.
Disruptive means
Temporarily deny, degrade, deceive, delay, or neutralize enemy surface AD systems. Can further be divided into passive and active means.
Cite the purpose of SEAD planning in MDMP
Integration of SEAD into the plan.
EW planners must coordinate their planned activities with other aspects of military operations that use the EMS, as well as third party users that EW does not wish to disrupt.
