A coach is a specialist in the activity that they coach. They are responsible for preparing a player in skill acquisition and correct technique.
Describe the term ‘vocation’.
A regular occupation for which you would be particularly qualified or suited.

What is a ‘shamateur’?
Someone who competes in an amateur sport but who receives illegal payments.
Describe what is meant by an ‘open sport’.
An activity that allows both amateurs and professionals to compete together.
What makes an athlete professional?
Someone who takes part in a sport or an activity for their livelihood.
What is a semi-professional athlete?
A combination of both amateur and professional. Some will work part time in order to train and play over a longer period.
