What are the potential risks of a business not keeping data secure?
- Fines for not following data security act
- Loss of business as customers lose trust
- Going to court (Paying legal fees)
What are potential threats to the data held by a business?
- Loss
- Corruption
- Illegal duplication
- Theft
- Hacking
- Manipulation
What is health and safety?
The legal responsibility of employers to protect employees and customers in the workplace
What are the risks of not following health and safety?
- Fines
- Court Cases
- Negative Publicity
What is change management?
Change management is any changes in IT within the workplace. It is the responsibility of IT services, to make sure the change happens as efficiently and promptly as possible.
What is the purpose of change management?
To ensure that standardised methods and procedures are used in the workplace. Therefore the impact of any problems will be minimised.
What is disaster and recovery planning?
When the business produces a plan to reduce risks and a plan in place for alternative locations/facilities
What are the different levels of risk involved in disaster and recovery planning?
Small - e.g. network crash, corrupted hard drive
Medium - e.g. major hacking issue, fire, corruption of back-up files
Large - e.g. earthquakes, other natural disasters
How can a majority of the risks involved in disaster and recovery planning be prevented?
Backups
What are organisational policies?
These are policies that establish the rules for acceptable behaviour and guidelines for best practice in the workplace
What do organisational policies state?
They state what employees can and cannot do while using the network.
