Main hazard?

Effect of sand ingestion mainly when?

Exterior inspection?
windshield clean with water, not wiper.
Surfaces
Probes, sensors, ports, ram turbine doors. Positive pressure relief valves. LEF, Engine inlets, Fuel vent tanks, LGear, Stabilizers, APu inlet,
Cooling the ac and using air conditioning, what do you consider?
Minimize use of AC - USE ground air conditioner. APU used, use temp high as possible - but still tolerable flight deck and cabin environment.
Air conditioning configuration using APU in sandy or dusty ops?
Same as always, just close the ENG BLEED air switched, and then APU BLEED air switch ON.
Considerations engine start?
Use filtered ground cart for pneumatic air for engine start.
Motor engine for 2min to remove contaminants.
Pack and bleed consideration before taxi?
Rather use APU BLEED for air, so close ENG BLEED air switches and open APU BLEED air switch.
FLight control check?
Verify no increase in control forces due sand/dust.
Considerations during TAXI OUT?
taxi low speed-10kts, <40%N1avoid creating engine vortices.
Greater separation from A/C.
Avoid engine overhang unprepared surfaces.
180 turn, turn away from wind.
Avoid stopping
Avoid excessive braking - brake wear.
Considerations TO?
Max fixed derate and ATM
Make “NO ENGINE BLEED TO”
If temps ok, maybe Unpressurized TO
Allow sand/dust settle before TO
DO NOT TO into cloud sand/dust
Rolling TO. Avoid high thrust at low speed.
Visible sand and dust exist, delay flap retraction.
Approach into sand/dust?
NO ENGINE BLEED landing. Temps ok, do unpress landing.
Landing considerations?
Use autobrakes to minimize reverse thrust
Limit reverse thrust if performance allows. Prevent Dust/sand intake, ALSO prevent reduction visibility.
After landing considerations?
again, if bleed air needed for AC, use APU BLEED instead, with ENG BLEEDS OFF.
Taxi in considerations?
Same as taxi OUT. DOnt do single engine taxi.
Secure proc?
Packs off, prezz mode selector MAN, outflow valve switch CLOSE.
