What are the indications for Ondansetron?
A
- Undifferentiated nausea and vomiting
- Prophylaxis for spinally immobilised or eye injured Pts
- Vestibular (inner ear) nausea in Pts <21y/o

What are some contraindications for Ondansetron?
A
- Known hypersensitivity
- Concurrent Apomorphine (Parkinson’s) use
- Known Long Q-T syndrome
- Hypokalaemia or hypomagnesaemia

What are some precautions of Ondansetron?
A
- Pts with liver disease should not receive more than 8mg/day
- Pts on diuretics who may have underlying electrolyte imbalance
- Not to be given to Pts with phenylketonuria (PKU)
- Concurrent use of Tramadol
- Pregnancy

What are some side effects of Ondansetron?
A
- Constipation
- Headache
- Fever
- Dizziness
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Seizures
- Visual disturbances

What is the dosage for Ondansetron?
A
- 8mg/4mL (once only, slow push) IV
- 4mg ODT (repeat 4mg after 5-10min) Max 8mg PO

What is the Onset, Peak and Duration of Ondansetron?
A
PO/ODT O - 2min P - 20min D - 120min IV O - 5min P - 10min D - 2-6hr
