What are the indications of Fentanyl?
A
- CPR interfering Pt
- Sedation to maintain intubation
- Analgesia —> hypersensitivity to Morphine, known renal impairment, hypotension, nausea/vomiting, severe headache

What are the contraindications of Fentanyl?
A
- History of hypersensitivity
- Late second stage labour
- Complications with the nose (eg. rhinitis, facial trauma) IN

What are some precautions of Fentanyl?
A
- Elderly/frail Pts
- Respiratory depression (eg. COPD)
- Impaired hepatic function
- Current asthma
- Known addiction to opioids
- Rhinitis, rhinorrhea or facial trauma IN
- Pt >60y/o or Pt <60kg IN

What are some side effects of Fentanyl?
A
- Respiratory depression
- Bradycardia
- Apnoea
- Rigidity of the diaphragm and intercostal muscles

What are the dosages of Fentanyl?
A
- 50mcg at 5min intervals. Consult after 200mcg IV
- 200mcg (repeat 50mcg at 5min intervals) Max 400mcg IN
- F/E/<60kg 100mcg (repeat 50mcg at 5min intervals) Max 200mcg IN
- 100mcg (repeat 50mcg once after 15min) IM
- F/E/<60kg 1mcg/kg IM

Dilute Fentanyl 100mcg/2mL to 10mL with 8mL NS
