What are the indications of Methoxyflurane?
A
- Pre-hospital pain relief
- Mild/moderate procedural pain

What are the contraindications of Methoxyflurane?
A
- Pre-existing renal disease/impairment
- Muscular dystrophy
- Concurrent tetracycline antibiotic use
- Exceeding 6mL in any 24hr period
- Personal/family history of malignant hyperthermia

What are some precautions of Methoxyflurane?
A
- Pre-eclampsia
- Concurrent Oxytocin (hypotension) use
- Must be held by Pt —> unconsciousness, it will fall from Pt face
- Pt must be supervised at all times during administration

What are some side effects of Methoxyflurane?
A
- Drowsiness
- Decrease blood pressure and bradycardia
- Exceeding 6mL in any 24hr period may lead to renal toxicity

What is the dosage of Methoxyflurane?
A
3mL (repeat of 3mL after 25min). Max 6mL

What are some special considerations to Methoxyflurane administration?
A
- Do not administer in confined space
- Ensure adequate ventilation in ambulance

What is the Onset and Duration of Methoxyflurane?
A
O - 8-10 breaths
D - 25min, 3-5 once no longer inhaling
