OMA Flashcards
What is a safe landing?
A landing at an adequate aerodrome with no less than the final reserve fuel remaining and in compliance with the applicable operational procedures and aerodrome operating minima
Fuel discrepancy when filling out the tech log
Up to 6 tons - 400kg
6 to 12 tons - 500kg
More than 12 tons - 600kg
OMB 2.3.6.12
What is CNR?
Company Normal Reserves
Sum of alternate fuel + final reserve rounded up to the nearest 100kgs
Condition for no destination Alternate?
Either:
1. Dispatched under the Alternative Flight Planning Procedures
- The duration of the planned flight does not exceed 6 hours
- 2 separate runways are available and usable at the destination and the appropriate weather reports or forecasts for the destination indicate that for a period from 1 hour before until 1 hour after the ETA, the ceiling will be at least 2,000ft or circling height +500ft, whichever is greater and the visibility will be at least 5km
Or
The aerodrome is isolated
When do you need a take-off alternate and what’s required?
When performance or met conditions preclude a return to the departure aerodrome.
It has to be within 1 hour still air flight time with OEI, in ISA conditions based on actual takeoff weight and within 320nm.
Validity of daily inspection
48 hours in addition to remaining part of the day (after 1800)
Standard PAX weights
Male 93kg
Female 75kg
Child (2-12) 35kg
Bags 11kg domestic, 13kg EU, 15kg otherwise
OMA 8.1.8.5
When can you go below MSA?
In the vicinity of the aerodrome when in VMC, and/or established on the approach, holding procedure, under positive radar control
OMA 8.3.1.5
Where can you find events to be reported by ASR?
OMA 11.9
Explain MSA
Minimum sector altitude around NAV station or aerodrome reference point, or otherwise 25nm. Provided 1000ft obstacle clearance.
Explain MORA
Minimum Off Route Altitude
Usually a grid MORA - 1,000ft terrain clearance up to 5,000ft, 2,000ft clearance above 5,000ft within 20nm of the route segment
RFFS Categories
Rescue and Fire Fighting Service
A319/A320 6
A321 7
Downgrade by NOTAM or ATC etc - 2 categories below
Take-off alternate, destination alternate and e route alternate - Non-UK 4, UK 5
OMA 8.1.2.1
When do you need 2 destination alternatives?
The appropriate weather forecasts for the destination indicate that from 1 hour before to 1 hour after the aircraft’s ETA the weather conditions will be below the applicable planning minima
Or
No meteorological information for the destination is available
Holding speeds above 140 and below 140
230kts below 14000
340kts between 14000 - 20,000ft
Procedural approach max intercept angle
30 degrees
