Electrics Flashcards
Explain sources of electrical generation and their priorities
GEARB
What does the EMER Gen power?
AC ESS BUS and DC ESS BUS
Approximately how long does it take for the emergency generator to come online?
8 seconds
When waiting for the emergency generator to deploy, what is powering the aircraft?
Batteries
With EMER ELEC, what is powered on the flight deck before the emergency generator is deployed?
PFD1, ND1, Upper DU, FMGC1
What is the purpose of generator 1 line on the overhead?
Turning it off keeps generator 1 still running but AC BUS is being powered by GEN2. This allows the fuels pumps to be powered separately.
Approximately what speed must be maintained for the RAT?
140kts
What is the difference between selecting the generator off and the IDG off?
Gen 1 turns the generator 1 off and is reversible. IDG disconnects the IDG and isn’t reversible in flight
What is the purpose of selecting APU master switch on in the smoke configuration checklist?
It enables the flight crew to manually control the outflow valve that is powered by the DC BAT BUS.
Under what circumstances will the RAT extend automatically?
AC BUS 1 and AC BUS 2 fail
At what altitude can the APU be started in the EMER ELEC configuration and why?
25000ft or below - denser air, more likely to start.
Under normal operations, what altitude can the APU support electric load and bleed demand?
Any altitude for electrical load, 22500ft for single pack bleed demand
How do you convert AC to DC and DC to AC
AC to DC with TR
DC to AC with Static Inverter
Why a generator is AC
Constantly changing current (alternating)
Discuss AC ESS BUS fault
Lose PFD and ND 1 and Upper DU so CM2 is PF.
Single DU display so you have to push and hold the system page.
