Pectoralis Major
O: Clavicle, Sternum, and Upper 6 Costal Cartilages
I: Lateral Lip of Bicipital Groove
N: Medial and; Lateral Pectoral Nerve: C5, C6, C7, C8, T1
A: Adducts arm and rotate it medially; Clavicular fibers also flex arm
Pectoralis Minor
O: 3rd, 4th, and 5th ribs
I: Coracoid process of scapula
N: Medial Pectoral Nerve: C6,C7,C8
A: Depresses point of shoulder and if scapula is fixed, it elevates the ribs of origin
Serratus Anterior
O: Upper 8 ribs
I: Medial border and nferior angle of scapula
N: Long Thoracic Nerve: C5,C6,C7,
A:: Draws the forwards anterior around the thoracic wall; Rotates scapula
Subclavius
O: 1st Costal Cartilage
I: Clavicle
N: Nerve to subclavius: C5,C6
A: Depresses clavicle and steadies it during the movement of the shoulder girdle
Biceps Brachii
O: Long Head - Supraglenoid tubercle of Scapula
Short Head - Coracoid Process of Scapula
I: Radial Tuberosity and Bicipital aponeurosis into deep fascia of forearm
N: Musculocutaneous Nerve C5,C6
A: Supinator of forearm and floor of elbow jt.: weak flexor of shoulder jt.
Brachialis
O: Front of lower half of humerus
I: Coronoid process of Ulna
N: Musculocutaneous: C5,C6
A: Flexor of elbow jt.
Coracobrachialis
O: Coracoid process of scapula
I: Medial aspect of shaft of humerus
N: Musculocutaneous nerve: C5,C6,C7
A: Flexes arm and also a weak adductor
Structures passing through the Anterior Compartment of the Arm
- Musculocutaneous, Median, and ulnar nerves
- Brachial Artery
- Basilic Vein
- Radial nerve is present in the lower part of the compartment
