What is hyphaema?
blood in anterior chamber - indicating injury severe enough to cause eye bleed
What does a choroidal tear leave?
a white scar
What occurs in optic nerve avulsion?
optic nerve is pulled from back of eye
What might an air gun pellet to the eye cause?
severe intra-occular disruption (very little you can do :( )
What is important about sympathetic opthalmia?
A penetrating injury to one eye can lead to inflammation in BOTH eyes, which may then lead to bilateral blindness
- extremely rare but very important as preventable
How should you investigate an intra-ocular foreign body?
always Xray
Which is worse, an alkali or acid burn to eye?
alkali (more penetration)
What can be damaged by burns?
lacrimal gland - leading to extreme dry eye
