Obsessive compulsive disorder
A. Presence of obsessions and/or compulsions
1. Obsessions: Recurrent intrusive thoughts, urges, or images. Person tries to ignore or supress/neutralize by performing a compulsion. 2. Compulsions: repetitive bxs in response to obsessions, aimed at reducing distress. Not realistic.
B. Obsessions/compulsions are time consuming (1+ hr each day) or cause distress/impairment.
Body Dysmorphic Disorder
A. Preoccupation with 1+ perceived flaws that others don’t see or seem slight
B. Repetitive bxs in response to flaws to soothe anxiety (ex: body checking,
comparing self to others)
Hoarding disorder
don’t need to know specific criteria
Inability to get rid of things, regardless of value. Distress at the idea of getting rid of things. Leads to cluttered/congested spaces that compromise the intended use of the space.
Trichotollomania (hair pulling disorder)
don’t need to know specific crtieria
Hair pulling that leads to significant hair loss. Attempts to soothe from stress. Inability to stop or reduce hair pulling.
Excoriating disorder (skin picking disorder)
don’t need to know specific criteria
Recurrent skin picking that causes lesions. Failed attempts at stopping or reducing picking. Clinically significant distress. Not self harm!
