What is gravidity?
-Gravidity denotes the total number of pregnancies, both present and past regardless of outcome
What is parity?
-Parity denotes the total number of previous pregnancies beyond 28 weeks or viability
Define the following :
-Nullipara
-Nulligravida
-Nullipara : One who has never completed pregnancy beyond viability
-Nulligravida : One who has never been pregnant
Define the following:
-Primipara
-Primigravida
-Primipara : One who has delivered one viable child
-Primigravida : One who is pregnant for the first time
What is grand multipara?
-5 births or more
Multigravida?
-More than one pregnancy
How do you determine the EDD?
-Using naegle’s rule
-Add 7 days, subtract 3 months, Add one year from the LNMP
How do you determine the gestational age?
-Count number of weeks from the LNMP
What is full delivery?
-Delivery at 37 weeks or more.
What is Preterm delivery?
-Delivery at less than 37 weeks
Consideration of termination, miscarriages and abortion on parity?
-Occurs at less than 28 weeks
-Considered as a subscript plus
Who is a parturient
-A woman in labour
Who is a puerpera?
-A woman who has just given birth
Methods used to confirm pregnancy?
-Physical Examination
-Qualitative hCG blood test
-Clinical urine test
-Transvaginal ultrasound
-Abdominal ultrasound
