Decreased bllod fow to the placenta
Placental abruption
Intrauterine growth restriction

What is pre- eclampsia and what are some signs and symptoms associated with it?
It charaterised by high blood pressure and proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation( 3rd trimester).
Sign and symptoms includes:
RIght upper quadrant pain
Headache + visual disturbance
Acute onset oedema e.g pedal edema
Hyper reflexia (brisk reflexes) and clonus
What is the managment of eclampsia?
Emergency delivery of the baby
How does GDM affect the fetus?
Large gestional age baby
Sholder dystocia
Stillbirth
How does GDM affect the mother?
Increases risk of developing T2DM
Pre - eclampsia
Hypertension
How is GDM diagnosed?
GTT ( Glocose tolerance test)
What is the management of GDM?
1) BM monitering + diet advice
2) Metformin, insulin( if BM is noy controlled)
3) Regualar growth scans
4) Delivery by 40 weeks
