The removal of any bias or human influence in research. Results must be collected in a way that is independent of the researcher.

The opposite of objectivity; where research is biased and based on personal opinion.

Why is objectivity an important feature of a science?
A
- Makes the results more reliable (removing bias)
- Builds confidence that a finding is representing a real effect.
- Allows researchers to question their accuracy and ensure that the methods used were well-controlled (higher internal validity).
- Allows researchers to identify scientific fraud.
