Objective/Goal Writing Flashcards
ON EXAM: there are 3 critical elements in writing a goal, what are they?
- performance/behavior = measurable
- Conditions = context -what you do
- Criterion = accuracy -correct productions out total opportunities
what is a goal?
the client will do “what behavior, to extent and for how long”
What is performance?
an observable, measurable behavior that is desired to be changed
the performance is a change in client’s performance, not the clinician’s
What are performance words?
Action-oriented, measurable,
observable.
Do not be ambiguous = not
measurable.
What is that word in the goal that you can measure?
Correct this goal
“client will be able to jump”
Correct: will be able to demonstrate the ability to jump
give examples of performance words
Demonstrate Improve
Verbalize imitate
Request Write
say
T/F Performances are measurable
True, you get your percentage from your hierarchy
1. Behavior
2. Conditions
Ex. at a dependent level the client will jump with 2 physical prompts
Data: I, PP, PP, I, PP, PP
+/+/+/+/+/+
3. Criterion- write long term goals and short term goals and the objectives to help you reach the goal
Label the 3 parts of this artic goal
Client will produce /g/ in the initial position of words given a verbal model with 60% accuracy
Produce: behavior
Condition: verbal model
Criterion: 60% accuracy
Label the 3 parts of this artic goal
Client will produce verbs given a picture stimulus with 100% accuracy
behavior: produce verbs
Conditions: picture stimulus
Criterion: 100% accuracy
Explain what are the conditions?
What will you provide to the client to facilitate performance success.
The conditions under which the client will perform.
The context.
environment/setting
prompting
activity parameters
Explain wait is criterion
How the client ‘should’ perform.
Accuracy – number of correct productions out of total trials.
Increase from your baseline percentage
When your writing a goal:
-what is a client going to have to do to perform this so I can take data on it
What are lesson plans?
Objectives: They should be numbered and follow goal/objective format. =Performance =Conditions =Criterion
Explain METHODS/MATERIALS
Methods:
How will you teach the client the target behavior
Materials:
A list of the items you will use in the therapy session.
Reinforce:
a method to positively reinforce the occurrence of target productions (or at least encourages shaping of target).
Explain results
Objective data of behavior.
Accuracy 6 out of 10 opportunities.
These should also be numbered and aligned with the objectives
Explain COMMENTS
Any comments that you want to make about:
The client and his/her performance
An evaluation of your performance
Revisions for the next session based on the first two
