Data collection Flashcards

1
Q

What is the purpose of collecting data?

A
  • To prove to third party payers that progress has been made and that further treatment is warranted
  • To demonstrate to the client the progress or lack thereof
  • To provide the clinician with a sense of when to make therapy more/less difficult, i.e., a direction

  1. NNY 2. NY
  2. Y 4. Y
  3. NY 6. Y
  4. Y 8. Y
  5. NY 10. Y
  • You can find an ave how many tries it takes them to say /s/
    Summary: 60% on first trial, 30% on 2nd, and
    10% on 3rd

Q

What does knowing your baseline help you make a good goal?

A

ex. clients baseline is 40% vs 10% vs 90%
BUT to get to a goal of 95% you need to know how much work (prompting) it will take to go from baseline to a goal —based on the learning curve

Q

You need to develop your own system, how?

A

Code your descriptive data collection so you are specific in your analysis!
ex.
SC = client self-corrected
R1= one stimulus repetition

Q

Write a goal for Justin if this is his baseline: Justin will request an object given a verbal model, a visual prompt, and a turn-taking activity with 70% accuracy

A

So, because his baseline is already 70% you don’t want to increase the goal but change the amount of prompting.

Goal: Justin will request an object given an initial teaching period, visual prompt, and a turn-taking activity with 70% accuracy

note we changed “an initial teaching period”
